Media artist Ivana Penjak Kasavica (born in Split, Croatia in 1968) started her artistic project Love Gatherer in 2009. A simple method of recording by a static camera is employed to capture (and later present) portraits of individuals who accepted the artist’s request to emanate love into the camera’s objective during a limited period of time. Unlike the traditional portraits intended to display the likeness, personality and mood of the portrayed person, this artist’s portraits are a means of accumulation and dissemination of the emotion of love and its human dimension, regardless of race, sex, worldview or cultural standpoints that successfully divide the humanity.
