Exhibition brings together recent paintings by two artist Croatian Izvor Pende and German Daniel Richter. Concept follows the path traced by the series of exhibitions entitled One on One, organized in the museum since 2009. So far exhibitions have presented works by two Croatian artists that were coupled according their style, generation, discipline or theme. Swimming Together exhibition is a step forward in the concept since it connects Croatian with international artist, which reflects overall museum's strategy of international promotion and positioning. The rest of the exhibition's conceptual dynamics lies in the fact that it connects artists of different generation, and different status among art scene structure – while Richter is international star, younger Pende is only of national reputation. Furthermore, while both artist express themselves in the medium of painting, Pende is lately inclined towards abstract idiom, while Richter remained one of the leading contemporary figurative artists. Exhibition will present 10 large size canvases of each artist. Their works will be installed to compliment and contrast each other in order to provoke not only their more intense perception, but also their interpretation. Overall, exhibition will simulate the life situation when two artists, friends and neighbors in reality, swim together.
