The Old Masters Collection is a significant part of our holdings in terms of number, diversity, and quality of artworks. The represented artists include the most prominent Venetian painter of the 14th century, Paolo Veneziano, and several paintings attributed to the renowned Italian painters of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as Matteo Ponzone, Antonio Zanchi, and Girolamo Brusaferro. Another interesting group of paintings is that of copies and variations of famous sacral artworks, such as the variant on the popular subject of Christ Carrying the Cross, attributed to Girolamo Denti. The collection’s highlights include the famous engraving of Albrecht Dürer, Melencolia, and the Allegory of the Four Seasons by the Czech baroque painter Peter Brandl.
